HTML Project

Finally after two weeks of work my HTML project is finally done. Since I had never really work with HTML it took me longer than others.

This project was to create our own HTML page using mostly Dreamweaver. The purpose for the project is for us to better understand and learn how to use HTML.

In this project we could picked our own topic but it was preferable to pick a Cerritos College related topic.

  • Once you have pick your topic go to you Dreamweaver application and pick what template you want to work with.
  • Start adding the elements to your index page which will be the main page.
  • After start creating the others pages that will be linked to your index page.
  • Make sure links and such work and direct your audience to the right page.
  • CHEACK YOUR SPELLING! It counts.

Visual Resumes

A visual resume can sound scary and more high tech than what it really is. Those visual resumes can be a video or just a website.

What those resumes have that the traditional one does not have are visuals. They add pictures such as graphs, statistics and charts that give the visual idea of what you would normally explain in words.

Some say that those visual/video resume are the future and becoming more essential but we have to keep in mind that not every employer will have the same view about them as others so you should always have a traditional resume with you.

Here is my visual resume as an example of what it looks like. Keep in mind you may have more experience to add than what I have on mine.

You can create on on sites such as but not limited to:

The Advantages:

  • They are creative
  • Easy to make
  • Gives a more easier and clear idea of your experience
  • Shows that you are not afraid to work with technology
The Disadvantages
  • Not every employer would like a visual resume over a traditional one
  • Can create confusion if the employer doesn't know how to read it
  • Not everything on your resume tailors to every job you are applying to and its more difficult to change/remove stuff from a visual resume than a traditional one.
Here are so websites that can help with tips and with you should create your visual resume.

Infographs

An infograph is a way to visually explain a topic with information present in steps and/or charts. Inforgraphs can either be online or print.
  • First you would need to pick a topic for your info graph.
  • Once you have your topic do an extensive amount of research on it.
  • Come up with statistics and information you can use on your project.
  • Create a free account at Piktochart
  • After toy create your account pick one of the free templates.
  • Start inputing your information in to the layout with the available tools.
    • If you created any charts on Excel upload them into your template.
      • (see next blog post on how to create a chart on Excel)
  • After you finish imputing your information save your infograph.
  • Then what you want to do is download the image and save it to your computer.
  • Don't forget to site your sources!
There, you are all done creating an infograph that could be use for any occasion.

Here is mine as an example.

Learning to use Storify

For my multimedia class on Thursday the lesson was on how to create a story using Storify. The purpose of Storify is to create a story based on tweets,  facebook post, google searchs and even Instagram from others and incorporate them to your story to add more opinions others than your own.

The way Storify works is once you pick a topic and find related post on any of the above social media sites and drag it to your story board. Once there you can choose to add text explaining the post searched you dragged to your story board.

This will give the story more edge and opinion from others and not just your own.

Here is a link to my first Storify post Obama's 2nd inauguration speech in the eyes of the students.
